This week, I'm assigned on an energy-related project. I've made my preference to specialise in financial service and energy industry. Today has been a good day. I was given a bunch of information and documents and it was up to me to design the report format and template. Cool! It’s much easier to outline your own report. I’m sure it’ll be cut and sliced by the bigger fish but at least I get the chance to put my creative mind into that report.
So for the past 3 weeks I did FS work and the next 1-2 weeks, I’m getting into energy stuffs. Hopefully it adds up my market value. The good thing of specialising FS is that most of our assignments are based in the city. The cons – I have a lot of reading (regulated industry).

i have no objection towards governement school..in fact in malaysia,private school concept come as something odd to me ..
but that is malaysia..our public edu system is good (in my opinion)..
but living in turkey... looking at the situations here..there is a great gap in quality between public school and private school...the quality of teachers... the quality of students... in fact, for university entries.. only minor students from the public school get to enter the uni..
it is like this.. private school..the parents PAY the school to send their kids there. Hence, the school nak tak hendak need to have a high standard of education so that the parents will be satisfied n wont be sending their kids to other private schools..mcm kat sini.. kalau parents complain about a teacher..(many complaints n the complaints prove to be right).. the school akan buang cikgu tu n will replace the teacher with another teacher...their system of teaching etc.. memang kualiti dia berbeza.. kalau kat sekolah awam..cikgu dia boleh ajar murid dia nak tak hendak..but kalau buat mcm tu... memang tak boleh la kat private school..
one good thing about private school ni.. i feel my kid is safer there..kat public school u hear cases teachers abusing the kids..
in private school..mana cikgu berani buat mcm tu.. the school entry pun.. bukan semua boleh masuk area sekolah.. parents yg datang melawat kena tinggalkan identity card kat pak guard...the kids lepas school time will be escorted to their school services..sampai ke pintu masuk apartment..n kalau sorang.. sampai ke pintu depan rumah....securitywise..memang u rasa aman sikit..
i tak sure la the system kat london there..the safety..the edu quality between the private school n public school..tapi if u can afford it..there is no harm in sending ur kid to private school..

Thanks for the feedback. I think thats what my friend meant ie there are other alternatives other than international schools. The international schools fees are quite expensive. Here (UK), skolah free and education level is higher than Malaysia. So I guess ada 2 options in turkey, private or international schools. But I dont think private school semahal international school. I just dont know whether my kid can cope with private school (ie learn in turkish).
It's our 3rd year here. Missing nasi lemak kerang like mad. :D
r ur kids going to go to school in london or in istanbul? *confused*.. i have never heard of international school here..but i have heard of british schools here..
the private school here is around 8K..the cheapest i think for sekolah rendah is around 7300 per year (excluding school bus fees but including lunch)..
if u r thinking of sending ur kids to a school not speaking turkish...then, the british school..or the international school is ur only option..

i think i got the sum wrong there.. among the cheapest fee for the private school in istanbul is 7300YTL a year..that is like 1US dollar to a 1.5 YTL..sorry about that..was a bit distressed..
international schools i suppose the medium of instruction will be english..but private schools..the medium wll be of the language of the country.. if ur daughter will be learning in london, then international or private or public..it wont make much difference languagewise..except for the system of learning for each school..am i making sense?

No worries. I understood your figures. I'm sure you meant YTL. I'm living in London. My kid goes to a public school here, so it's British medium. My firm is encouraging people to go on secondment and one of the countries offered is Turkey.
If it's 8k, it's definitely cheaper than international school. The ones I found were in the range between USD12-15k per year or 18kYTL-22.5kYTL.
I went back once. Like you said, 'home is where the heart is'. My home is here, with my girl. Malaysia is just a place where the rest of my family members live. :-)

if u r thinking of turkey..if it is istanbul..i think the british english school is at the european side of istanbul..i dunno about their price.. i am at the asian side..
the thing is if ur girl will enter school here.. she will first enter pre school.. like hatice, her pre school is within the primary school compound (www.haticeveokul.blogspot.com)...
in her class, there is a pakistani girl with basically no background in turkish.. second semester is starting n she is actually mixing up with the rest of her friends n she is actually trying her best to speak the language..
i talked to an american family residing in istanbul too.. they have 2 boys..with no turkish background. they go to turkish school n r doing pretty well as well..
but if u worry about the language problem..ur best bet is the british school..
by the way..if u dont mind me saying..i think u r brave in trying to raise ur daughter alone..sometimes to be away from everybody (family etc)n ur homeland is one way to heal the pain....more privacy to think what u will do with ur life with less interference...*hugs*

Thanks a lot for your encouragement. The pain is gone but of course, there is the scar. Occasionally, the scar brings back the pain. Maybe I should consider plastic surgery to remove this scar. :P
